Growing up in New Albany was great! Especially playing drums! I spent a lot of time listing to 1230 WCOL-AM and then 97.9 WNCI. One night I heard Bob Nunnally the overnight DJ on WNCI make a mistake and laugh at himself! At that moment I thought, wow, that guy’s LIVE, not taped! I want to be on the radio! That same year our school counselor informed me that I had enough credits to graduate a year early, in 1976. That’s why I’m not in the 1977 yearbook. I graduated from NAHS in June of 1976 and began college at DeVry University nine days after high school! I found my first radio job through the school’s part time jobs board. From 1977-1983 I was a DJ for WRFD AM; WBNS AM/FM; & WCOL AM; 1983-1991 for WSNY Sunny 95 which included three years as the hostess of “Love Songs and Nothing but Love Songs”. I began flying traffic for Sunny 95 as their back up reporter which lead to my next job at 610 WTVN as their traffic reporter from 1991-1998. My favorite time was flying over OSU stadium for game day traffic.
My wonderful husband and I had our daughter in 1998. She’s so fun to be with!! I left full time work to be a stay at home Mom, but I continued to work part time for QFM96 and K95.5.
Ten years later, I’m full time again for Clear Channel Columbus. We have seven stations, all in one building: 97.9 WNCI; 92.3 WCOL; 610 WTVN; 105.7 The Brew; Radio106.7; 93.3 WLZT and 1230 WYTS. I work for all seven stations. This fall I will voice the football traffic reports before and after the OSU home games. Just listen for Pam Spencer!! Each of these stations has a traffic web page and part of my job is to enter traffic info into a data page that feeds the radio station web pages.
My data also feeds Garmin; TOM-TOM; Cobra; Kenwood and most major brands of GPS devices on the market today. MapQuest is also a client.
Our traffic tip line is 821-1111 so if you see a traffic problem, give me a call! Or contact me at producer610@hotmail.com
